Introduction to Autism Workshop Series

Credit:            CPDUs, CEUs, NASP, and Speech CEs will be provided for 1.5 clock hours for each session as attended- All sessions should be attended in the series. Total clock hours 16.5

L.E.A.S.E. Cooperative Teachers, Paraprofessionals, Social Workers, Counselors, Speech and Language Pathologists, and Psychologists

  • Provide participants with research-based instructional strategies to assist students in meeting rigorous academic standards

This Autism Series will introduce participants to structured teaching. It will expose participants to techniques that will address instruction, assessment, communication, behavior and independence. Participants will have the opportunity to share cases and problem solve with presenters.

                       

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

1) explain basic characteristics of Autism,

2) develop physical structures, schedules, and work systems for students with Autism,

3) assess the structure of their classroom for students with Autism,

4) create schedules, work systems, and tasks

5) deliver appropriate assessments within Structured Teaching Framework,

6) understand the basics of communication and communication needs of students with Autism

7) implement communication interventions,

8) use a variety of social assessments/checklists

9) understand student’s behavior and

strategies to increase positive behavior

10) promote various techniques to increase student’s independence.

 

*Priority will be given to participants who had registered for the canceled Summer Autism Workshop
