About the Workshop
This workshop will inform school based mental and behavioral health providers about current youth suicide statistics based on the 2019 Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System and other sources, including the impact of the pandemic. Participants will gain an understanding of risk and protective factors related to youth suicide for prevention, supporting staff in identification and referral, use of a model for school based risk screening both in-person and remote school situations, intervention resources, and supports for postvention. Resources will be shared for trauma informed practice, community mental health providers, prevention apps, hotlines, and Safe2HelpIL.
